This forgotten schoolhouse in the country was a fun discovery for me. It was a chilly, windy day with a colorless winter sky. Inkjet print on archival, acid-free paper. Limited edition of one carefully crafted print. Printed on demand, inspected, dated, and signed by Timothy Hughes. Certificate of authenticity included with the unique print. Muted colors and a minimalist composition make this a clean, timeless photograph.

I was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1971 and received my B.S. in Art, in 1997. For the next eight years I worked at The Onion designing print advertisements for Madison and NYC newspapers. Recently, I've been focused on fine art exhibitions and shooting my photo work. In the past two years I've been in several art shows in Chicago, Los Angeles, Madison, and Detroit. I'm serious about the craft of photography. Aspects of my shoots are carefully planned and controlled: location, color, lighting, wardrobe, composition, lens focal length, etc. Nearly every decision I make is a conscious one. However, the process of creating an image is very much collaborative. I generally work with a team which consists of a makeup artist, assistant, and the model/s.I am interested in shooting photographs in full color. My print work is large-scale, with photographic-process color prints. Producing sharp, well-crafted images at a large format is much more challenging than creating for the web. I consider my work fine art (that is, intended to hang on a gallery wall) and for me it is certainly a labor of love.Presently, I reside in Madison shooting with a full-frame digital SLR camera and various prime lenses with focal lengths ranging from 35-85mm. I prefer to shoot outdoors in urban industrial areas, but winters have forced my shoots indoors for much of the year. Shooting on-location allows me to thrive creatively since each session uses an entirely different environment.
