Viridian was born in Liverpool, UK and creates sculptures, paintings and artwork on paper. His manifesto is; “To create highly unique ideas of depth and beauty to inspire the imagination and intellect”. Artwork includes kinetic sculptures that physically interact with you via robotics, electronics, sound and light. Viridian discusses his art; “I completed my very first art piece when only 15 months old. This was the day I fell head first into a copper laundry pot filled with boiling water!…. It melted my whole body, like bees wax touching molten bronze, moulding me into the shape of a real artist. Since that day I have learnt to do art in safer ways! Art is my true vocation in life and I’ve grown to become “multi dimensional”. New art ideas come to me when I observe the colours, shapes, textures and patterns of Nature. I also find interesting themes for my artwork by studying the latest discoveries in history, science and the human mind. A common link between these topics is my fascination with “The Passage of Time” and making it evident in the final art piece. Recently I have been working on art themes dealing with The Cosmos and Ecology. At present this link is found in exploring the relationship between Human Evolution and archaeological “arti-facts”. My choice of art style often travels without licence between Realism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Conceptual Art and Abstract Expressionism to best advantage each new art piece. However in 1997 I founded a unique visual art style called “Fibism”and some of my art now falls in that category. Currently there is no written definition for Fibism because doing so would undermine it’s effectiveness as a radical new art method. The spacial dimensions of human perception, from the 1st Dimension to the fifth, are all involved in my art practice and I choose from a diverse range of materials and techniques to make art in each dimension. I like to write about my thought processes and the physical processes of making each artwork as extra insight for the viewer. Initially my art ideas dwell in the dark recesses of my mind as latent potential, yet to pop into existence, like sub atomic particles. For me words or text then materialize as the 1st Dimension and I may not take them any further. However I may choose to take the idea into the 2nd Dimension as a drawing or other flat paper work. Then I may make a relief or sculpture in the 3rd Dimension.
