The old ginger jar takes the lead in this still-life. It's color, glazed surface and unusual form shows the beauty of a utensil, which was used throughout the ages to store spices. Keeping the color tones in the same palet, the still-life breathes a kind of a tranquility. The playful position of the lime and the leaves makes it fresh and gives a happy feeling, without loosing the esthetics of the composition. The still-life photography of Marlou Pulles is a well balanced surge for stillness. Every single object comes to life in the tranquility of her photography. She chooses her compositions carefully and hopes it gives a moment to take a good look and relax. By creating something extra, such as the depiction of movement and lightness in this still-life, time just stopped in her art to enjoy the simple beauty of simple daily-life objects. "Ginger jar and lime' is printed on HM PhotoRag paper It is part of a Limited Edition, #4-10 The work is signed and numbered in the white border.

I am raised in the Burgundian south of the Netherlands, studied art history (specialization 17th century Dutch Visual Arts) at the University of Utrecht, where I have build up my imaginary library. Feeling the urge not only wanting to consider art, I started at Statief in Utrecht my photographers education to create art, with a great interest in still lifes. The common thread of my still lifes is stillness. For me, everything comes to life in the tranquility of photography. The natural forms of fruit and vegetables, for example, are photographed as if each object has a personality. My still lifes are actually portraits to me. I choose the compositions carefully, and hope to give a balanced result, creating something extra, such as the depiction of movement or lightness.Time has just stopped, to enjoy the simple beauty of nature even more.
