This Is Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland I visited on 13th February 2022 the date is significant as its 330 years to the day that the Glencoe Massacre took place on the 13th February 1692. An estimated 30 members and associates of Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by Scottish government forces, allegedly for failing to pledge allegiance to the new monarchs, William III and Mary II. This particular spot is called Ralstone Memorial and built in memory of Ralston Claud Muir, who died at the age of 32. He loved to climb in the glen his family spread his ashes in this spot and left a plaque dedicated to Ralston it reads 'these are my mountains and I have come home". I was guided to visit and make some work walking around the glen which has some outstanding natural beauty. I was first captivated by Glencoe whilst travelling to the Isle of Sky in 1999 and vowed to return some day with my camera. This is a special place although this work is of nature in the landscape I still feel that this is a documentary piece. I made this artwork as it was presented to me. I hope you feel that this work is divine as I felt whilst making it. The images are all made with a 24 mm or 50 mm fixed lenses I walked for miles that day and then drove home for seven hours, I think it was worth it though. Enjoy Simon Bolton The print comes with an authorised certificate to clarify authenticity Giclee print archival papers and Ultrachrome HDR aqueous pigment inks, producing prints with incredible colour and detail.

My name is Simon Bolton an award winning photographer with over 25 years experience shooting images professionally. I continue to be inspired by making art work with my camera. I have studied the art of photography for a very long time and it still inspires me to make more work today. I make work that could be considered documentary using an arbitrary way composing and clicking my shutter shooting as life as it happens, but I also use this way making my art work when capturing landscapes and abstracts in nature. I started my photography journey as a trainee photo-journalist and a regional newspaper in Lancashire in the UK. Part of my training was using black and white film ( Ilford 125 or 400) using wet processes to develop film and print in a darkroom. Although the process of photography has changed dramatically the principles of producing great imagery has remained the same whether using darkroom techniques or using post production with digital imagery I recently won an 2 IPA awards 2020 'Oneshot/ Movement/ Highly Commended 2021 'Oneshot/ Our Times/ Highly Commended I started a 8 year project whilst completing my BA in photography and completed it as part of my final piece of work during studying for an MFA in documentary photography. My final piece of work "The Elevator Speech" was exhibited at the Foto Gallery in Wales and published in Hot-shoe Magazine. I have been commissioned by The Daily Telegraph Reveal magazine, NME and The BMJ, Asda, Virgin Media, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Pets for Homes, Hillarys Blinds, Denby Pottery and The National Lottery; IKEA and Toyota, Unilever and Vodaphone, the NHS and The Home Office. I use my camera as a tool to represent beauty, passion, love and fervour using my perceptions and life experiences as my inspiration. An inventive professional photographer creating compelling photographs which tell a stories or convey a sense well being in a collective consciousness that everyone can connect with.
