About The Artwork

The Black and white composition depicts a horse's eye in a contemplating moment. The high-key photographic technique isolates the subject, as in a dreamy, sunny scene, from its surroundings. The horse's graceful allure inspired the title, Grand Dame. At the same time, its constantly moving body invited the artist to chase her eye for another frame, leading to two images that can be exhibited together or individually. The Grand Dame's eye detail invites viewers to chase its gaze and connect with its stunning presence.
