The idea of combining photography and drawing was something that had been turning in my mind since a while. When I saw Gianluca Gimini's drawings I thought they were perfect for this experiment, so I started to combine them with my photographs. In the beginning I used pictures I already had, then I started to choose photography locations specifically for this woman that I came to consider my model. The key to the interpretation of my project Leggerezze Metafisiche (Metaphysical Lightness) lies in the contrast between the metaphysical atmospheres of the landscapes and the seemingly provocative notes of the corpulent female figures. The unexpected harmony of this combination leads the mind in a dreamlike world made of slight irony. These figures are free and uninfluenced by the slavery of appearance, fat because of the desire to be and communicating with the real meaning of life.

Gianluca Muscas, born in Cagliari in 1983. In 2009 I obtained my master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Ferrara. During my studies I have investigated, among others, the themes of multimedia visual language trough photography and graphic animation. A significant experience in my training in the art of photography was the opportunity to work with photographer Mustafa Sabbagh in 2007. Thanks to him I started to develop my own vision of the relationship between photography and project by acquiring the technique as an instrument of expression of my ideas. After working as Architect in Italy, Holland and Africa, I decided to dedicate myself to the profession of photographer. Recently I participated at the “Premio Arte 2014″ exhibition at “La Permanente” in Milan. Furthermore among the major exhibitions in which my works have been showcased there are 4GDA (The four day art festival of Ferrara) in 2005 and 2006 in Ferrara, and the International Architecture Biennale in Venice 2006.
