About The Artwork

There is this notion that as we get older that there is just going to be that someone that we find that is going to complete us. The biggest lesson in life is loving yourself first, and being your own personal best friend - first. Especially for women and our current body dysmorphia craze, desperately trying to attain the unattainable photoshopped cover of magazines. This image is dedicated to women, and I am letting this be a visual voice of accepting yourself. As she encircles herself in this image, it is almost as if the subtle cool blue tones are telling her to let go "of all the bad thoughts." Even when we do say we love ourselves, I feel like it is a constant struggle, repetitive, and sometimes manic. "I thought I would find love," also has subtle religious tones to it; the crosses faded in the back. Print is 39 x 60 with 2 inch white border. Edition 3/7 Framed with a white frame **On exhibition** At Saatchi

I went to school in Santa Barbara, CA, lived then LA for 7 years, and currently living in Richmond, VA. While I lived in Los Angeles, my underwater photography was shot in the pools of Los Angeles. I merged my love of contemporary with underwater, and also have architectural work too. www.erintengquist.com
