ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This image is part of an ongoing experimental project called Imagined jungles using discarded plastics. In this series I incorporate the physical, organic materials found in Bali's nature and turn them into dream like places following my imagination. Thus the colors created are based on feelings and intuition and are not predetermined, but a mere result of experiments. In order to create a sense of abstraction, I'm using different discarded plastic materials and often some post manipulation as well. In 1950, the world's population of 2,5 billion produced 1,5million tons plastic; today a global population of 7 billion people is producing over 320million tons of plastic. This is set to double by 2034. Every day approximately 8million pieces of plastic find it's way into the oceans. With this series I would like to call attention on the impacts of our excessive plastic usage, hoping that it gets people inspired to start looking for other ways to repurpose plastic, and new alternatives to substitute it in their everyday lives, but at the same time to also look at plastic in different ways- perhaps it can be beautiful and recycled as a form of artwork too. Image specifics: This image is printed on Luster Inkjet photo paper. I'm also happy to create different sizes please let me know and I shall make a bespoke print for you via Saatchi Art.

Eszter Papp, 32 is a Hungarian fine art, documentary, lifestyle photographer and visual artist. In her work she tries to highlight the paradoxical nature of manmade products and the duality of them when interacting with natural elements in our modern times. They can appear in beautiful forms and enhance our lives in ingenious ways, however at the same time they can also be destructive and exploitative. She likes to create abstract, experimental, dream-like scapes incorporating her intuition and feelings when it comes to colours, rather then predetermine those. She is currently represented by Galeria Azure in Madrid. When not creating art, she produces assignments internationally for sustainable companies and environmental news services such as Eco-Business. Eszter is also proudly part of the Artist for Air initiative of Tomorrow's Air, a company Incubated by the Adventure Travel Trade Association and in partnership with Climeworks helping preserve clean air for future generations. She is also a producer and art director on the documentary feature film A Life Electric, which was selected at Breaking Through The Lens Programme at the Cannes 2019 Film Festival. She currently works at Far Features Ltd., a media production company producing documentaries for clients including VICE News, BBC, CNN and National Geographic. In her latest personal photo series called Our Social Distance she experiments with ways to create images amidst the pandemic via live webcam portrait shoots. She manipulates the images through layers and colours echoing a sense of distorted reality the viewer and the subject have formed under isolation. Using this new way of making images, Eszter has been able to make portraits of subjects in Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Italy, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, UK and USA. More at:https://www.eszterpapp.com/our-social-distance Eszter has been selected to exhibit at The Other Artfair at Dallas between 21-25th October 2021. Her work has also been exhibited across South East Asia and Europe and rests in many private collections. She has been published at Loosen Art Gallery online, the International Photo Magazine, Art of The Isolation Magazine, F-Stop Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Psychologies Magazine, supernormal.nyc.
