About The Artwork

In Daylight Embrace the joy of daylight Find comfort in the bright light of a fresh breeze and the winter sun Our day with no screens, no internet and (almost) no electricity was a breath of fresh air. Literally, because we took a long walk. Figuratively, because we reflected and talked about our online time and use of electrical devices. Even in our minimalistic household, this generated several immediately implementable ideas, providing peace of mind, time for reflection, time to do different things for a change, and saving on our CO2 emissions. So we will continue to do this. One day off-i and off-e every week. We can heartily recommend it, if only to become aware of your i-use and e-use and the alternatives that are available. Artwork: In Daylight (Inverted version of the artwork 'In Darkness'), please also read the text to that artwork. January 2021 'In Daylight' is an artwork in my collection 'Quest For The Light'. Limited Edition prints are available in any size you desire in centimeters or in inches, up to the below mentioned maximum. Please let me -or the Saatchi Art staff- know your wishes and I'll upload it in the desired size. -o- Limited edition custom made fine art print, printed on Sihl Cotton Paper 320 g/m2 or an equivalent museum quality fine art cotton paper. The artworks are for sale in a limited edition art print of 28 prints in total. For every artwork I sell a max of 4 signed and numbered prints per size 'group' within the total of 28 prints. All limited editions are signed and numbered, and with a certificate of authenticity. Any size available up to 150H x 220W cm / ~ 60H x 90W inches. Other materials (baryta rag paper, canvas, acrylic foil, framed) and other sizes on request. Production time is 7-10 working days. -o- This artwork is 'made in camera'. This means that I didn't use filters or editing software to manipulate it.

With my artworks, I hope to tease and stimulate more than just your sight. I want you to sense what I sensed when I made the artwork; the light, the temperature, the atmosphere... sometimes even the scent of a damp autumn forest and the cold of the whirling salty breath of a storm on the beach of the North Sea. In this way I ask you to reflect for a moment on the nature around you, on the beautiful feeling that nature can evoke, on what we will lose if we continue on the path of 'never enough'. My main inspiration is the vulnerability of nature. I see changes in nature. I see the effects of urbanization, the pressure of pollution and of the changes in the climate. I hope to make people aware of that vulnerability by sharing what I feel when I look around me. My work is often described by others as abstract, minimalistic and impressionistic. My style is distinct and pure, and is characterized by soft colors, soft focus and the effects created by how I move my camera during making the photo. I like experimenting and exploring the limits of what the camera can handle. I myself often describe my styles as abstract realism and (surrealistic) impressionism. I mostly work in nature where I immerse myself in the shapes, colors, sounds and stillness of the natural surroundings. My work can be described as the most pure form of fine art photography, since I choose to create the abstract and impressionist effects as seen in my photographs, using only the basic camera settings. Photo software is used only to remove dust or to adjust brightness, contrast and cropping to improve my compositions. I don't manipulate my photos and I don't use digital editing tools or filters. The titles of my photos are an important element of the entire work of art. In addition, I often write a short poem or a few lines of prose to a photo. Born in 1959 in the city of Gouda in The Netherlands, I now live with my wife and dog in a small farmhouse in the Danish Thy region in North West Jutland. In the summer of 2018 my wife and I moved from a larger city in The Netherlands to a small hamlet in the Thy region. We fell in love with this region about ten years ago... We live a simple, minimalistic life, as self sufficient and sustainable as possible, and we love it... My photography has been sold and exhibited in various countries all over the world.
