ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Shot in Darjeeling in 2013, this photograph brings a fantastic pop of colour to a room and the details in it take you on the journey with the photographer. Whilst in Darjeeling Richard became fascinated with the hand painted advertisements which became works of art as they were weathered in the extreme environment. He was also struck by the home of Tea being plastered top to bottom by the iconic soft drink brand. This artwork is a limited edition of 25 gloss photographic print, dry-mounted to aluminium, presented in a museum board white window mount and a choice of black or white box frame made professionally in the UK. Although I was brought up in East Anglia, I was heavily influenced by America, I visited American bases, I kept magazine cuttings and I followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in my imagery. Colour is a major aspect to my work, it drives my equipment and material choices. I have made many bodies of work, while there are distinctions between them they are all linked somehow. I have exhibited widely, in the early part of my career following an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989, many of my exhibitions toured Museums and Galleries around England. From 2007 presentation of my work has mostly been at Art Fairs in the UK and worldwide where it has been brought by many international collectors. My piece 'Thrills' was part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
