My exploration of New York started in 2004. Through out my travels to New York city I always strive to capture the iconic vibe. Buzzing energy of the new emerging city as well as the sometimes dormant and hidden gems. For several of my travels I brought with me a model. In this photo from 2008 me an...

Richard Ryan is a Swedish photographer and visual artist. He is well known for his dramatic visual compositions where he chose photography and graphic prints as the foundation for his artist ambitions. His dreamy and slightly surrealistic imagery is something that he creates without changing his original photographs by digital means. "Reality is, if its studied and perceived carefully fantastic in itself. If you as an artist is sensible you will be able to show this by your special approach to shadows, lights and final composition of the image." Is the artists own words on how he sees his artistic process. The artist is known to photograph models of all ages and they are often not the usual standard of what the fashion industry would label as models. That is also part of the beauty he will makes us see. A typical Ryan photo or graphic print tells a story happening in an urban landscape in New York, London or Stockholm. Sometimes he does the total opposite and find folkloristic elements in the deep forests of Sweden. The collectors of his art are very familiar with the Ryan imagery that is known for shifting between classic documentary photography, pop art influences, rebel Dandyism and high fashion. The artist himself tell us of his own visual movement called "Photomagism". The foundation of his movement is not to reach beyond reality but to make us see the splendor of the narrative, that we are already part of, by making us see the hidden highlights.
