KOROWAI - Limited Edition of 1 Photograph

At this stage, I don´t want the work of art to be tedious but to always be looked at as if it was the first time. I want the observer to feel ignorant about what appears in front of them. A painting should create the feeling of contemplating a tree before knowing it is a tree, or a sea, before being able to name it. In front of the unknown, the mind immediately looks for supporting points; I´ll try not to give them to it. When the mind realises that it can´t settle, that it can´t define what it sees, it will stop interfering and something else will certainly happen. I try to create a painting that can turn the observer and the observed into a unique experience, where there are no concepts, or references or allegories. Where there aren´t two. All distance, all separation destroys the creative act. I´m interested in the artistic game that discourages the eyes´ temptation to discover something recognisable. In this way, we won´t look from the outside or from a traditional perspective. Every battle between parts should be overcome by the unity of the experience itself.
