Little did he know that the young girl from Croydon with her heart-shaped face and wayward vivacity would change the face of modelling, and redefine fashion history forever. These pictures, in which she stands barefoot on the beach with her hair unkempt and cigarette in her hand, exude the newness and facility/ease that the world of fashion had been lacking.
