About The Artwork

In this portrait, we see Homayoun Kelidar, believed to be the mother of Javad Kelidari, the writer who penned the narrative of this rich land. Her face, etched with the passage of time, conveys a life steeped in the experiences of Kelidar, a village situated at the crossroads of Quchan, Neyshabour, and Sabzevar. Kelidar is a place where life can sometimes tighten around you like a vice, dark and unyielding, pressing down until you feel it in your very bones. Yet, it is also a place where the sweetness is hidden within the folds of night and day, a sweetness so profound it can draw tears of joy from your eyes. Homayoun's gaze is one of resilience, a testament to the spirit of Kelidar, reflecting the contrasting pains and joys of village life. Wrapped in a vibrant scarf, the colors vivid against the rustic backdrop, she embodies the enduring soul of this place – a land that can both challenge and cherish its inhabitants.
