NUDOS (Spanish) KNOTS: It's a series where the strength of lines, the surface's flexibility, and the photographic record's eternity converge. Once again, I work with temporary sculpture, reminding us of the importance of what we have in our hands, but it always slips away from us; time. For some, ...

Jairo A. Llano (b. Colombia) is an internationally-based artist and photographer rooted in Bogotá. Trained as an architect, he approaches space as a vessel of perception, tension and narrative. His work explores the intersection of time, material and identity, extending from sculptural constructions to photographic documentation. Using ephemeral paper forms and archival photographic processes, he investigates how fragile structures and chromatic nuance express resilience and visibility. Jairo’s work has been featured in international exhibitions and publications, and reflects influences from architectural minimalism, queer poetics, and formal abstraction. He invites viewers to experience perceptual shifts and the poetics of light, color and surface. Connect through website and social channels for more works and projects. If I had to describe the photography I do in a single word, I would say that all my projects investigate IDENTITY. Each series I create responds to questions I have asked myself about what I want to be instead of what I “should be.” Thus, my pictures address subjects such as the creation of boundaries, the new meanings that objects bring into a landscape, the recycling of memory elements, and the creation of memories, trails, and artifacts of what I’ve done. I photograph, analyze, and forge new relationships between the images I make and the ones I find around me. My series feeds off daily life, off elements (often photographs) that lead me to create relationships that trigger reflections about my obsession to question the structure of my life.
