ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"La naïade" was partially inspired by the symphonic poem "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" by Claude Debussy. My lovely muse Chloé posed in one of the most unspoilt and well-hidden parts of paradise that still exist on this planet. Flora and fauna abound here. A wild mountain river that once fed one of the most important ancient cities in Greece, runs down a narrow gorge between marble boulders, forming small cascades and pools. Age-old trees shelter wildlife, such as owls, lizards, dragonflies, and snakes. This is a truly magical place, protected by ancient deities and a most beautiful Naiad, who gives life to the spring of the river, protects its flow, and purifies its waters. From early childhood on, I became fascinated by art, history, and ancient cultures. I studied and received an MA degree in Classics (Latin and Ancient Greek language, literature, history, archaeology) and an MA (AbD) degree in Egyptology. I have worked in several museums and universities, in an art gallery and a theatre, and in IT. Both in science, in art and in photography, I have given a number of lectures and taught several workshops. Since 2006 I dedicate all my time and passion to fine art photography, managing my "creative flow" from start to finish, from inspiration and idea to finished prints and exhibitions. In 2008 the renowned art critic and art historian Edward Lucie-Smith noticed one of my photos at an exhibition and called it “remarkable!”. Previously, some of my work has been represented by the Albemarle Gallery, Albemarle Street, Mayfair, London.
