About The Artwork

I named this print after each character in The Three Stooges. The 3 umbrellas felt as if they were performing a slapstick comedic act. This image was captured on Kodak Portra 400. Edition of 7. All limited editions of this work are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity. For additional sizes and framing options, please visit the website at www.xavimanrique.com.

Xavier Manrique was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and raised in Miami, Florida—both visually stunning landscapes that fed his drive to explore an interest in photography during his youth and served as a precursor for his transition into film. With a particularly adept eye for beauty, Xavier communicates with his audience through a stunning use of cinematography and art direction while engaging in poignant character exploration. His debut feature, CHRONICALLY METROPOLITAN, was picked up for worldwide distribution by Universal and features a stellar cast including Shiloh Fernandez, Ashley Benson, Mary-Louise Parker, Chris Noth, Josh Peck, and Addison Timlin. Xavier’s second film, WHO INVITED CHARLIE?, featuring Jordana Brewster, Adam Pally, & Reid Scott, was picked up by Vertical Entertainment for a theatrical and digital release. A recent project revived Xavier’s interest in photography, which only seemed natural given his career in directing feature films. Since then, he has developed a distinctive method and style working typically with expired film—an approach that results in pieces with unique characteristics, such as decreased sensitivity and contrast, increased grain, and color shifts that are dependent on how and where the film has been stored. Xavier is currently working on upcoming film and photography projects.
