About The Artwork

with all of the focus on fundamentalist Islamic terror today, it occurred to me there has, through history, been some similar nasty behavior exploited by the Christian side as well. Think about the Crusades, the reformation, the witch hunts, and even here, in NM today! Why groups of very catholic men who feel the need to demo their penitence publicly (at least to their brothers) will gather on predetermined days up in narrow arroyos and self flagellate and even nail each other to home made crosses until they pass out fro pain and blood loss. These glory bound jihadis call themselves "Los Hermanos de Luz" or the Brothers of Light". Pretty crazy eh? So rather than going to Syria and yelling at Masri or brother Ahmed in regards to how crazy and I religious this stuff all seems to me? I thought I'd shoot it with girls behaving like religious fundamentalists self flagella ting themselves with lip sticks and rouge and posing sexily whilst acting out done of the more "interesting" beliefs of another religion's take on faith sanity love and piece. I see personal well being herein, don't you?

I was born and grew up in New York City, 5 blocks from the Met. As a child, I got drug into that vast art vault weekly. What a pain to be 6 years old and force marched through the 40 foot high Renaissance painting room. And why were all the ladies naked? Where are the dinosaurs like they have at the Museum of Natural History or those great Teddy Roosevelt-supplied dioramas of African lions? I've worked passionately as a commercial photographer and am now a fine art photographer. I am still working as a dramatic Portrait Photographer on the Upper West Side of NYC. My site is www.wickbeavers.com for a look. I've won awards for my work and have been in many national and international magazines, mainly with my editorial portrait work. Thanks!
