My artistic journey began with the iconic Rolleiflex 6x6 camera, forbidden yet captivating during my childhood. The nomadic nature of growing up in 15 different locations across Germany shaped my perspective, fostering keen observation and curiosity about the world. Starting as a schoolboy with an Agfamatic pocket camera, my photographic journey evolved through documenting university adventures to eventually using photography as a medium for connection while working with young, handicapped individuals. Winning an internal competition in 2003 marked a shift to a Canon EOS 20D, propelling me into constant experimentation, exploration, and skill refinement. Guided by my mother-in-law, an artist and curator, I delved into conceptual realms, participating in exhibitions in Cologne since 2010. Notable exhibitions include a group exhibition on the theme of the four elements and another in 2021 showcasing my overlay works on "Sehnsuchtsorte" (places of longing). Drawn to images with movement, blur, and a painterly look, my work finds inspiration in artists like Ernst Haas, Pep Ventosa, Stephanie Jung, Saul Leiter, Robert Mapplethorpe, Gerhard Richter, and the philosophy of Wabi Sabi. I aim to explore the space between photography and painting, using my lens to create new visual experiences. Life is a journey of perpetual transition, from birth to death. My artistic expression captures the fleeting nature of time through longtime exposure, multiple exposure, and intentional camera movement, creating a unique, often painterly, look. Acknowledging the influence of my mother-in-law and diverse cultural experiences, my journey in photography is a continuous exploration.
