ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Midsummer days is my new series dedicated to the hottest days of the year. In this new work I wanted to show my will to take care of every single detail of the image, not necessarily to seek perfection, but rather to make things more genuine through their defects. My constant inspiration, once again, comes the great Caravaggio, who has always accentuate the realistic view of life and its natural path towards decadence. So, today, I can say that I'm not here to photograph perfection, I leave it to stylists, advertisers, influencers. I take pics about reality, the folds of the tablecloths, the slightly overripe fruit, the flowers that quickly wither, the banal gestures of every day.

I have always lived in a world of images. As a child I wrote and drew. My world is been always a world of fantasy, full of dreamlike, velvety, evanescent images. I arrive late to professional photography, but the passion is born very early. At the age of ten I receive a Kodak instamatic as a gift for communion. For a long time I write and paint, I continue to shoot, but only on specific occasions. Film costs money. The love for writing that accompanied me in my youth has translated into a strong passion for street photography and storytelling. The love for painting led me to a search - through still life photography - for an increasingly pictorial style full of emphatic colors; creating a constant alternation between static and dynamic photography. Over time I have accentuated my natural ability to take care of every single detail of the image, not necessarily seeking perfection, but rather to make more genuine things through their defects. My constant inspiration comes from the great Caravaggio, who has always accentuate the realistic view of life and its natural path to the decadence. So, today I can say that I am not here to photograph perfection, I take pics about reality, the folds of tablecloths, fruit that is a little too ripe, flowers that slowly wither, the mundane gestures of every day.
