ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Analogue photography. This picture was taken with a Rolleiflex camera and is featured in my book São Paulo, Mon Amour (2009) available on In order to have a multiple exposure several shots were taken without rolling the film thus, the film is sensitised with light in the same part several times, providing the superposition of images at the moment of its development. It's it's all done mechanically and the photographer will only know how the final image will look when he develops the film. And this is a little bit of the magic of analogue photography: the surprise of the image that is revealed before our eyes in the photo lab. I print it in high quality fine art paper (Hahnemuhle Photo RAG 308g) and ship it rolled in a tube with a certificate and all safety precautions.

Gad Laniado (a.k.a Gady Laniado) is a Brazilian multidisciplinary artist, a street photographer, a Creative Director and an Advertising Copywriter since 1993 and have worked in agencies such as DM9DDB, Grey, Ogilvy and Wunderman Brazil, among other great players of the advertising business. Interested in many art forms, played drums in rock and reggae groups in his early twenties. Developed video projects in the university years and directed music videos for bands of close friends. Has a video on the first Minute Video Festival of Brasil (Collors - The Video). Fell in love with Pop Art at a very early age. Used his math and chemistry books in high school as sketchbooks (that used to drive his mom and dad crazy) drawing comics characters out of boredom to pass the time during those classes which felt like an eternity. Learned how to make graffiti stencils in art classes at school in the 80’s and displayed some of his art in the streets of his beloved hometown of São Paulo. Starts drawing more seriously by 2001, mainly with pastels on paper. In 2022 he starts making digital art, creating a wide range of artworks from abstract and geometric pieces to Pop Art and botanic art. Loves grafitti, photography, tattoos, gastronomy and good books and films. Influenced by German Neo-Expressionism, Jean-Michel Basquiat´s work, Charles Bukowski´s, Albert Camus and Jack Kerouac´s books (among other good writers) and indie rock in general.
