"Cyanotype is an ancient monochrome negative photographic process, through which a Prussian blue, cyan-blue photographic print is obtained. This technique was developed in 1842 by the botanist Anna Atkins." (Wikipedia) My cyanotypes are made from natural materials harvested from the garden. The process allows me to keep a tangible and perennial trace of the lives (vegetable - animal) that I come across around me. As the botanist makes his herbarium, I collect, dry and sublimate with the cyanotype technique my various discoveries. Here, this snake molt found in the garden of Ruines du pont qui n'existe pas, in wet cynaotype (very long pose in the sun) on cotton paper (300g/m2) with a matt black painted wooden frame. SC is based in a little village in Charente (France). She holds a DEA in Image Arts and Technologies as well as a Bachelor's degree in Arts. From the age of 16, she enrolled in Fine Arts in addition to her high school lessons. Inseparable from his life, engine of his existence, graphic and pictorial creation has taken different forms throughout his career and his experiences. Graphic designer, art teacher in mainland France and in Tahiti where she lived for more than 10 years, the tools and the smell of the workshop are never far away and always catch up with her. At a very young age, she began to draw, and it was her father, an entomologist who sharpened her gaze through the meticulous and attentive observation of Nature, it was also her father who gave her her first "lessons" in drawing and oil painting. From this look, she draws from her childhood this sensitivity to the preservation of the environment. And because it is essential today more than ever to take care of biodiversity and our planet, the work and life of SC are part of this essential approach to the conservation and defense of living things. Mother Nature as an infinite source of inspiration, as a source of materials to divert, to integrate, to triturate. Whether in his contemporary paintings, his watercolor illustrations, his drawings and more recently in his ceramics, plant, animal, marine, organic, anatomical nature is the common thread of SC's creations. And, to visit the workshop of SC, you will simply have to find the ruins of the bridge which did not exist...
