My Mother's Garden in Summer #2 - Limited Edition of 8 Photograph

This photograph is part of a series on my Mother's garden in Summer. I wanted to recreate the feel of an English country garden with the layers of colour and texture found in it's herbaceous borders. The flowers in this photograph are Monkeyflower (Mimulus guttatus) and Green Alkanet (Pentaglottis sempervirens). To create my photographs, I employ a method of 'camera-less' photography in the form of the flatbed scanner attached to my computer. The lighting effect of the scanner means that very little light enhancement post-production is required in my photographs. I have some control over their composition; which I employ in the way I place the plants on the scanner bed, and by digitally cutting and re-placing certain elements of the plant post-production. This is a giclée print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag which is a beautiful matte paper that adds a velvety depth to the black background in the photograph.
