DIDIER FOURNET

Didier Fournet is a French visual artist whose work explores the transformation of photographic reality through time, perception, and accumulation.

Introduced to image-making at an early age in Paris, he first developed a long career as an artistic director within major international advertising groups before dedicating himself entirely to his artistic practice.

Through the series *Vibrations* and *Abstract Vibrations*, Fournet has developed a distinctive photographic process based on the accumulation of multiple images captured within the same place and over an extended period of time. Each work is constructed from dozens, sometimes hundreds, of photographs, whose temporal layers converge into a single image.

Rather than freezing a decisive moment, his photographs seek to reveal the continuous flow of reality. Architecture, human presence, light, and movement gradually fragment and recombine, producing images that oscillate between representation and abstraction.

Unlike digital collage or AI-generated imagery, Fournet's work remains entirely rooted in direct photographic observation. The visible distortions emerge from the accumulation of lived time recorded by the camera itself. Photography becomes a medium capable of representing duration rather than a single instant.

His work is primarily developed within contemporary urban environments: megacities, vertical architectures, transportation networks, leisure spaces, and landscapes saturated with human and luminous activity. Through these visual constructions, viewers are invited to experience a shifting perception of reality, where certainty gives way to movement and transformation.

The notion of vibration lies at the heart of his artistic research. It reflects both the rhythms of contemporary life and the instability of perception in an increasingly saturated visual world. The image becomes a space of immersion where memory, time, and observation coexist.

Some large-scale works, particularly the monumental polyptychs of the *Abstract Vibrations* series, extend this investigation by transforming urban space into a dense visual field. These immersive installations challenge conventional photographic representation and blur the boundaries between reality and abstraction.

His work has been presented in museums, contemporary art fairs, and exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Asia, notably at the Musée de Guéthary (France) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum (Japan).
