High Quality Hahnemule Satin Cotton Rag 310gsm Print All prints are signed and numbered Limited edition of 25 split between two sizes. Part of 'The Rebirth of Flowers Collection' which creates the notion that picked flowers are not necessarily 'dead' at the end of their vase life. For some, it is a renewal, a rebirth to the next stage of its form. Gravity alters their physical state, colours stay true or de-saturate and the textures of the petals turn brittle and crisp. Each flower has metamorphosed into a new, immortalised form. These limited-edition fine art prints portray a rich, moody colour palette reminiscent of the Dutch masters so favoured during the 14th to 16th centuries. They have been post processed in a way to look painterly-like with crisp detail and intense colour.

Maegan McDowell is a New Zealand fine art photographer drawing on inspiration from the renaissance period, and it’s use of vivid colour that she transitions into her still life floral pieces. Born in Auckland in 1989, Maegan McDowell grew up influenced by her mother’s passion in medieval décor and her father’s fascination with the natural world. After more than 10 years dedicated to beauty, fashion and travel photography, Maegan decided to return to her childhood calling and embark on a new path focusing on nature. Nurturing her creativity from studies in floristry, she would bring home leftover flowers to create bodies of art that drew inspiration from another passion — the Renaissance period. Maegan’s recent work, The Rebirth of Flowers and Ice Collection are both heavily derived from the Dutch Masters and the Italian Painters. It reflects that flowers are not dead at the end of their vase life and in fact “What is dead may never die”. Maegan captures these florals in a beautiful still life manner where dominating colour is set amongst a stark black background and post processed in a painterly manner. Her greatest inspirations come from Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo Di Vinci, The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood to name a few.. Drawing so much inspiration around her, Maegan has high hopes for the future of her career in showcasing beauty to the world and brilliant colour found in the early Italian painters of a bygone era. She has hopes to be able to take part in art residencies, international fairs and travel abroad to Europe to exhibit her art.
