About The Artwork

Taken in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic. Photograph taken with Hasselblad. This is a part of a series called Nouvelle Noir - a great exhibition of 100 photographs that I plan to display in 2017. This is my travel log, my journal and diary. Although very private I still leave a lot of room for interpretation. There is nothing truly black and truly white in those pictures, and the meaning stays hidden between the shades of gray. This is a silver gelatin print made from 120 negative on baryta paper, stabilized with selenium toner. Vintage print, signed. Edition of 1, with 1 Artist Proof. Only one photograph is for sale. The second Artist Proof is to be donated to The City Museum of Wrocław. There will be no more editions.

I was born in 1988 in Wałbrzych, Poland. I have studied English Literature at University of Wrocław. In 2005 I moved to Perth, Australia and since 2013 I live in Germany. I am a bookworm, musician and photographer. I want to be a „Total Photographer” painstakingly making my way through the history of this art form: from pinhole, daguerrotype, wet plate collodion, large, medium and small format to (now) alternative printing processes like palladium, gum dichromate and albumin prints. I love the classical way, though: silver gelatin print. Photography is a two step meditation process to me: first step happens behind the camera, and then the journey continues in a darkroom. I am a true slave of my camera and the fractal structure of my brain: there are ideas at every corner of thoughts. I am often surprised when I see my prints, as if I were absent in the process of making them. It’s like a trance, a lucid dream… Since 2014 I am a proud member of Lower Silesian Photographers Association, www.dsafita.eu In 2015 I won National Composers Award organized by National Forum of Music, Wrocław, Poland. My composition was played at the grand opening of the venue. My name is written in stone, but I'm not dead yet. "J’étais insoucieux de tous les équipages, Porteur de blés flamands ou de cotons anglais. Quand avec mes haleurs ont fini ces tapages, Les Fleuves m’ont laissé descendre où je voulais." "I cared nothing for all my crews, Carrying Flemish wheat or English cottons. When, along with my haulers those uproars were done with The Rivers let me sail downstream where I pleased." Arthur Rimbaud
