About The Artwork

Cyanotypes are magical. I always love the moment when a blueprint is developing! It holds so much tension. ? In my work “Shades of the Sea” I want to capture the energy of the ocean. Calm. Deep. Mystical. The process of these cyanotypes is much like a conversation with the ocean. Listening to the wind. Feeling the rhythm of the waves. Breathing the salty air. I love the unpredictable outcome and the imperfections of these prints. The waves, the wind, the sand, the stones, the sun, the clouds. Always changing. Leaving different marks on the paper. Moments in nature. Captured on paper. Cyanotype on Hahnemuehle paper Developed by the sun, washed by the sea.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am Karin Czermak, an academic professional artist. My passion is painting. My preferred mediums are acrylic and pastels on both canvas and paper. I often head out for some quick plein-air sketching. I love to collect shapes and colours from nature and take them back to my studio, where they serve as inspiration for my canvas paintings. During the work process, I translate landscapes, mountain shapes or forest lines into abstract forms and schemes. The landscape remains visible in the painting but is not immediately apparent. This tension between figuration and abstraction interests me. I explore and redefine it for myself anew in every painting. Inspired by natural areas and landscapes, I aim to create atmospheric, expressive, and poetic paintings. I come from Austria where I had the chance to study at the University of Applied Arts with experienced and very engaged professors. I am also holding a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Chinese Studies and had the chance to live and work in various countries around the world. Thus, my art is inspired by all these experiences I had the privilege to gain during my travel and work abroad. I currently live in Austria, where my love for nature is not only inspiration but also recreation during busy days. I am also a mother of three and my perception of life changed completely after the birth of my children,- and somehow has my art.
