ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I fell in love with orchids only when I started to explore them with my Camera and lighting. It was winter and my birthday and the only interesting lowers available were Lillies and orchids. So I spent all my money on orchids and locked myself happily up in the studio. Since then I see the white Phalaenopsis as an image of a total embrace. I love this picture in particular, it gives me many beautiful feelings and associations. Edition of 10. All prints are professionally manufactured under my supervision by an established fine art printer with 34 years experience; printed on photorag, signed and numbered. Child For my flower photography I need a certain light and a certain mood. It is as if the picture comes to me - flowers can't be chased... Almost all my flower photography is taken solely in sunlight. I spend quite a long time with one flower and sometimes in a certain moment she lets me in - this is the picture. Unlike humans flowers have no inside or outside - a fully open flower exhales all her inside.To me it feels as if the scent of the flower appears in the picture. Or the scent of the moment and the scent of the sun. As Claude Monet said: “I must have flowers, always, and always.”
