My work is all about the emotional connection we have to a place and moment in our memory when we felt such intense pleasure looking at a landscape. I am driven to capture the essence of a place with my camera, working mainly with the colours and shapes I see when I half close my eyes. I travel to remote islands, to places steeped in history, unspoilt beaches and wild rocky coastlines where I love to work in quiet solitude.

Orkney Silver was made at Dingieshowe, a small strip of land connecting two small islands on Orkney. Orkney is an archipelago of islands that lie off the north east coast of Scotland. A beautiful set of low lying islands interspersed with lochans of clear water. The beaches are silvery gold and the sea a mineral teal blue that takes your breath away.

I love printing and have long been obsessed with the materials I use. I love to work with fine art canvas and papers that are made for museum quality artworks. All paper and canvas prints have a generous white border around them for the framer to work with. Paper prints are signed, numbered and titled in border under the image. Canvas and metal prints are signed, titled and numbered on the front of the artwork in the bottom corner. You will receive a Certificate of Authenticity with the details and the number of your piece in the edition.

I hope, that when hanging on your wall, this lovely piece takes you to a beautiful place in your life when you stood and gazed in wonder at what Nature has created.

All my work is available on fine art paper, canvas or Chromaluxe aluminium. Some sizes can be delivered ready to hang on canvas or framed. The Chromaluxe metal prints have a subframe on the back and are ready to hang on the wall. This particular listing is for the unframed canvas which will need to be stretched by a framer once received. If you would like more information on the ready to hang options or other materials I use then please ask the team to contact me. I also do bespoke sizes.

Many thanks for looking at my work.

I live on top of a cliff on the Isle of Skye in the far north of Scotland; a place of inspiration, myth and legend. In all kinds of weather, I am to be found on a clifftop or by the beach with my camera. When I discovered long exposure photography back in 2011 and how it captures the subtle magic of early dawn light I was hooked. Here was a way for me to capture the beauty of light, a myriad of colours and make them my own. I am self taught in Photography using my researching skills to delve into the technical side of things using magazines and books for guidance. I love experimenting and started with my impressionist style images back in 2012. The rest of the Photography fraternity (or so it seemed to me at the time) was focussing on just how sharp you could make a photograph and measured success in terms of technical ability. I rarely saw blurry images or creative photography published in magazines and certainly not in photography exhibitions or competitions and so I carried on experimenting in my own little world with no thought to exhibiting. Having moved home three times to find the place I wanted to be, I now have a lovely studio on top of a clifftop with a view of hills and sea, sheep and green fields. Winters are harsh and very windy but my access to the Scottish Islands where I tend to spend a lot of time is easy from here. I am lucky enough to have a patient husband, four dogs and a stray cat and my life revolves around making and playing with painting and photographing the landscape.
