Photographer / Pim Westerweel (1936) × Conversion history No conversion in history In order to list your artworks for sale we need a digital copy of your government issued identification. This will help us ensure the integrity of our site and allow us to pay commissions in a timely manner. 1.557 Pim Westerweel, born in Bussum, experienced the thrill of his life as a fourteen-year-old boy. His father, an avid amateur photographer, gave him permission to play with his 9x12 film camera. Looking at the ground glass, he experienced the sharpness/blur and distortion of the real image. This marked the beginning of his creative approach to the photographic medium. After a two-year photography course in The Hague, he became a photographer/filmmaker at the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. In 1970, he decided to become a freelance photographer. In 1974, he moved to his studio on Bollelaan in Naarden, where he hosted countless national and international celebrities for some 2,000 record covers. He has produced reports for numerous magazines in Indonesia, Russia, Sri Lanka, India, Angola, and elsewhere. In 1987, he founded the Naarden Photo Festival. This festival attracted 15,000 visitors in its first year, and an impressive 50,000 in 1997. A resounding success, it put Naarden on the map, along with the St. Matthew Passion and Jan Des Bouvrie's Arsenal. In addition to his photographic work, he has been designing patterns for fabrics, carpets, and paper for over 25 years. Through his agent, Edward Terzibasiyan (Istanbul 1936-2000, Helmond), he has sold approximately 1,500 of his works in Finland, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Besides his commissions, he has always worked independently, resulting in numerous exhibitions. At 89, he is still active and continues to play with form and light.
