ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Barns of the Palouse...They dot our landscape, ancient ornaments set in relief against a backdrop of wheat fields, identifying the farms to which they belong. Some stand as legacy witnesses to the first Palouse settlers, whose horse-drawn plows were the first to break up the fertile ground surrounding their new homesteads. Others, maintained and preserved through diligent toil, continue to serve their current stewards. Regardless of their antiquity or condition, the barns of the Palouse beckoned me to linger, considering how best to capture them in their pastoral surroundings. This particular barn is one of my favorites, overcast with oncoming dramatic storm clouds. To me, this work brings back the nostalgia of the classic farm, and is a great example of americana... Unless otherwise noted, this artwork is an archival pigment print, on museum quality paper, matted in white, framed in black, and protected by museum quality glass. I am open to other print mediums and framing styles, within reason.

Juan C. Mancheno’s extensive travels have been his canvas, allowing him to journey to the outermost reaches of all 7 continents on this magnificent planet, which was a lifelong dream of his to accomplish. Throughout these adventures, though he never had any “artistic” talent with the paint and brushes, he always had a very strong desire to tap into his creative side, and many years ago realized that he could express his creative talents through the lens of the camera. His passion and love for the art of photography grew over the years, and his unique expressive talents have blossomed and grown into a truly unique style and form of expression, reflective of his personality. The main focus of Mancheno's work is in the Black and White medium, along the Big Sur Coastline, where he spends most of his time capturing timeless Landscapes, Oceanscapes, and Cloudscapes. Mr. Mancheno’s photography is a tribute to the wonder and beauty of this great planet, and each photograph represents his unique interpretation of life as an art form. Mr. Mancheno also does private expeditions throughout the Carmel and Big Sur Coast, for individuals and small groups. He also does boudoir photography, for select clientele.
