Pillars of the sky Even trees in their winters’ uniform provide protection against the cold wind and rain. In the twilight, a thick gray cloud cover seems to slowly sink down, until it comes to rest on the strong branches and trunks of these old trees. ‘Pillars of the sky’ is an artwork in my collection 'The Narrow Path‘. I made this photo December 2017 in the beautiful old forest ‘Dover plantage’ near the city of Hurup Thy. The photos in this series have been made in forests in and in the vicinity of the nature reserve National Park Thy, northwest Jutland, Denmark. Some forests in this region were planted in the early 1900s, but there are also ancient forests, with many trees that are hundreds of years old.
