The sea level markers I saw on my trip to Death Valley, California, made me think of the waterfowl that once lived here. With climate change and increased drought, I was deeply distressed by the reduction in lake size and the extreme compression of the living environment. It was out of concern for this situation that I placed the waterfowl in a surreal desert environment, hoping that this would be a way to remind humanity of the need to approach climate change scientifically and to take the right action.
