About The Artwork

Meet our priestess of the forest, the Viking Oracle Deer. She is an Oracle of the present, a creature with a heavy burden. She has come out of her cave-lair to perform a cleansing ritual for humankind. Her purpose is to break us out of our plastic chains which are insidious, parasitic, and toxic to our very existence. There is a “reusable” bondage of plastic in our lives. No matter how much we fight it, the ties made of hundreds of hydrocarbon bonds still hold us firmly in place. Ensconced in this world of bondage and self flagellation, we ingest plastic molecules with a smile on our face. We are living in a “sustainable” cage of polymer chains that will be in our literal bloodstreams from now until forever. Why do we do this? Because for the most part, they’ve given us no other choice. But we are also addicted to the pleasure of convenience. The pleasure of buying-the-next-new-thing. The pleasure of getting something “new” and “consuming” it. The pleasure of “throwing away” the old thing. Without a second thought we focus on the next new oil-derived bottle of whatever ~ and that old one? What old one? It’s GONE. But it isn’t. We know it isn’t. We all indulge in this cycle so easily, every day, and the system around us applauds us for it. With this convenience-of-consuming pleasure comes the pain of plastic in our blood, in our newborn babies, in our tears. This is the BDSM of single use to-go containers that have no where “to-go” when we’re done with them. Imagine this pleasure and pain the next time you buy another plastic product off the shelf. Think outside the hydrocarbon box.

Featherpistol is a Performance Artist who has dedicated her life to following her passions. Her love of Nature, community and her husband prompted her move to Tahoe in 2017. "Feather" is an International Artist in Residence for Supperclub Amsterdam and has performed her art at dinner theater shows, circus shows, special events, Vegas nightclubs, casinos, fundraisers, festivals and theater productions. She is excited to be the creator of “Pole for the Globe”, a new initiative for raising money for earth charities by performing her signature performance art in nature. To date, this project has donated over $7,000.00 to charity. Join the movement at patreon.com/polefortheglobe Early on, growing up in Minnesota, her passion for movement was noticed by her peers and she won "Runner Up" for Dancing Queen senior year in high school. Her then good friend Amanda got first place, which was well deserved. They would go to the high school dance parties and just dance like no one was watching. Apparently somebody was. Now, she considers herself a middle aged activist artist. She stages pole art performances, photoshoots, and video shoots to express her critique of this plastic-riddled world. At 42, she has followed her fire for travel, art and knowledge and lived all over the world - and is now quite happily settled in Tahoe with her little family. Having resided in Los Angeles, Florence Italy, London and San Francisco, Featherpistol has spread her wings and explored what excites her and is now quite content to be living in the mountains. When she performs, she blends her passion for music with her training in Tiger Crane Kung Fu, acrobatics, sensual dance, art history and runway modeling to create a unique style that audiences seem to love. During her formative years, an education of studying science and art history at the University of Southern California with a focus in Art Conservation, followed by a Fulbright Fellowship in Florence, Italy led to realizing her zest for discovering and expressing the human condition. Adding to her high spirit for performance art is her fascination with sound/music/vibration and its healing properties. This led to an additional credential from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Sound, Voice and Music Healing.
