Poseidon - Jem Fade Photograph

Emblematic This series focus's on the 12 Olympian Gods and Goddess's it was a detailed study into symbolism and the character of each God/Goddess to discover an object to describe their personality. I sprayed the objects Silver, as these are a set of 12 the Goddess's are in Gold. I changed the colour of the objects to question the idea of value within modern society, 'is it more valuable because its a valuable metal?' Gold and Silver will always be deemed valuable within society and they were valuable to the Greeks. Poseidon: God of water,sea creatures, and rivers. I choose the nautilus fossil as, I liked the fact the Nautilus was a sea creature but for me the shape reminded me of how water runs down a plughole in a never ending spiral. I also like how the light hits this object creating wave like shapes along the object. I wanted the fossil to add age to this object and make the viewer connect the the Ancient Greek people. I wanted the modern viewer to try and question the object itself I choose this slightly more obscure object as most people connect the trident with Poseidon.
