ABOUT THE ARTWORK

How does the urban environment and its architecture impact us? Buildings and structures are more than physical entities; they can convey a city's history, culture, and identity. My father always emphasized the importance of analyzing architectural details with technical precision, stressing the significance of perspective, balance, and scale. His teachings ignited my passion for architecture and led me to incorporate geometric shapes and spatial concepts into my final artwork, which is the focus of Recomposition No. 10. This piece meticulously combines digital photographs that capture the geometries of the landmark Oculus' built environment with abstract geometric shapes and digital painting techniques. Layer by layer, I added different brushes and colors to infuse the composition with a vibrant celebration of form, color, and structure. Freedom Plaza's design, a unique fusion of diverse styles and influences, surrounds the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center, offering a space for healing and reflection. The digital painting on the upper left side of the artwork uniquely interprets the water flowing over the remaining scars. Recomposition No. 10 draws inspiration from the BAUHAUS movement and architectural elements. The final artwork is a geometric abstract that melds historical essence with modernity. This fusion of influences and styles captivates and inspires. The final artwork is produced on archival pigment paper and offered in five limited editions.

I am a New Yorker from Queens, and my artistic journey started in my teenage years when I learned to draw. My father's teachings about perspective and proportion, rooted in Bucharest's architecture, influenced my unique realism and abstraction blend.  With a systematic approach, I delved into specific themes, capturing the ethereal effects of light and the perception of waves. My work has been showcased in prestigious venues, including the Huntington Arts Council, NY, the LIK Gallery, Vienna, Austria, and the Visual Art Open 2023 (online exhibition), London, UK. My latest series, "New York City Bauhaus," reflects my fascination with trans-artistic movements in the US and has been featured in exhibitions such as The CENTER for Contemporary Art, Bedminster, NJ, and LIC-A at Atlantic Gallery, New York City in 2024. I am delighted that Recomposition No. 10 | 2024 qualified for the 8th Edition of the Chianciano Biennale 2024 in Chianciano, Italy.
