About The Artwork

This fine art print is part of a picture cycle with 12 perspectives from the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, which was published internationally in 2015 as a large-format perpetual calendar. The series was taken after long planning with a digital medium format camera and developed in a naturalistic way - the photos were not changed afterwards. The series is part of a long-term project on the subject of nature patterns in protected nature reserves that are no longer influenced by humans. These pictures are now also being published in a limited edition as pigment print on uncoated paper in archive quality. Returned: Abandonded quarry Limited Edition (1/7) Nature Patterns Rhön Biosphere Reserve Through the usage as quarry the former hilltop “Lindenstumpf” has been eroded and today releases the view of the cooled down magma being basalt stones. With the clearly drawing November light shortly before sunset the richness of detail and color of the geotop is brought out. It is the eleventh art work from the twelf-part picture cycle “Rhön – Perpetual Modulation” with twelve high-resolution digital photographies, taken between January 2012 and April 2014 in the Rhön biosphere reserve. The series will be continued and is part of a long-term project, in which processes of change of the countryside’s motive locations is brought out. The Rhön is a historically grown artificial landscape in the heart of Europe. The area, characterised through basalt and covered with beech forests in the first place, has developed through clearing to the “land of the open distances” for centuries. With the Rhön’s recognition as “biosphere reserve” through the UNESCO in 1991 the region became the model region for human’s sustainable use with nature. In designated zones the nature shall develop largely free from external influence. The artwork offered here (No.: #110-11.1/7) was printed in limited edition in the artist's studio and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. The Fine Art print has an additional white paper margin of at least 1". The giclée print was made with pigmented ink of the highest archival quality on matt cotton paper 308 gsm. The matt paper guarantees a natural image reproduction with high colour depth without reflections and is characterised by a soft surface and feel. If required - within the framework of the limited edition - other solutions are also possible - for example ready to hang up. The work of art can also be made in an individual size as a unique piece. His works on nature patterns and the relativity of perception are mostly created over long periods of time. The realisation often takes place at special, authentic natural sites, using photographic means. Essential design elements are precise planning, meditation and chance, light and darkness, perspective and time. By combining different perspectives and periods of time, he uses elaborate collages of natural patterns to aim at the meta-level of being.
