NON-MANIPULATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY. The Spheres - collaborative project by Katia Platonova and Andrey Kazakov. Sessions were conducted on the coast of Gulf of Finland. Material of construction: gauze, plaster. Diameter of the objects: 0,4-1 metres. In this project, we investigated how objects not belonging to a landscape can change the space when placed into it. A sphere is an elementary unit, Black Square of a natural environment, typically thing-in-itself, sealed null-form. It's presence changes the environmental quality, as though the area would gain a complimentary dimension and imbue with alternate, metaphysical vibration. The series were created between 2014-2018 and were supposed to be complete as a trilogy, hence not much was published excluding the ones for PX3 and IPA contests that brought awards. 80 x 120 cm | Edition of 10 | 106 х 160 Edition of 5 | Due to destractive jpeg compress here the image looks blured, for better quality please see .php?id=s-5r

I am a self-taught photographer based in St. Petersburg, Russia. I graduated as an economist, but later took design, art history, contemporary photography courses at Saint Petersburg State Hermitage Museum, at FotoDepartament, and some others, and finally photography turned out to be a full-time occupation. / Introversion, silence and hovering over the moment are the key elements of my photography. I feel a special kinship to a “hidden” motive, when someone takes more observant look in an effort to unveil the unseen.
