Shadow and trees, Biei Photograph - Limited Edition of 5

I love to play with shadows. Especially when shooting in black and white, really dark shadows can be really powerful, sometimes so powerful to become almost real elements in the frame. In this particular image I used the shadow of the iconic Mild Seven trees to cut the scene in half, and complement the black trees in the top right. I always say that Winter Hokkaido is like a blank canvas, and it’s especially true in Biei, where any element, even shadows, can turn into black brush strokes and beautiful calligraphy. The original is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin 310 gsm 100% Cotton white satin-finish paper and manually signed.
