About The Artwork

Shine On A beautiful, subtly coloured, minimal image of the reflections on a foggy night on the River Clyde. This image conveys the quiet and peace that fog brings, when all is soft and calm as in a dream. About My Work I believe in giving my clients beautiful artwork on luxury papers that hold their colours for a lifetime. For these special prints of my work I use dreamy, light textured Canson Canvas and the highest quality inks. I do all my own printing, having spent years learning this skill I prefer to maintain control of the colour representation at all stages to ensure you get a truly handmade image. About My Materials People often say that my images look like paintings because of the richness of the colours, the depth of the black and the texture of the materials I use. Canson are one of the oldest paper manufacturers in the world, they have been making paper for over 450 years in France. Founded in 1557 and printers to Louis XVI, their paper was used by Voltaire and Napoleon and the Montgolfier brothers used Canson paper to make the first hot air balloon. Canson paper was used by Picasso, Ingres, Chagal, Miro and many other artists. They have been making paper and canvas for photography since this art began over 150 years ago. Canson are Eco Friendly - they purchase paper pulp only from forests managed in a sustainable way which also makes them pretty special. A Note on Canvases Canvases are unframed and unmounted, they need to be stretched or framed once you get them.

I live on top of a cliff on the Isle of Skye in the far north of Scotland; a place of inspiration, myth and legend. The colours all around fascinate me and here I find my heart can roam wild like the deer, otters, eagles and blackface sheep that surround me. The landscape on Skye is a patchwork of colours and textures like the Scottish plaids, sometimes warm browns, mauves and moss green, sometimes blue and cloudy. It is a place with a spirit, an endless palette of colours changing with the season, the weather and the time of day. In all kinds of weather, I am to be found on a clifftop or by the beach with my camera. More recently, I have begun painting in a variety of mediums and I currently accept commissions for paintings. My paintings are largely abstract fluid art pieces some of which are available as limited edition fine art prints and ready to hang canvases. My love of art began early; pencils and paints were an important part of my childhood along with stories of legendary heroes and fairytale castles. I am unashamedly romantic. When I was little my father took me to art galleries where I developed a love for colour and movement;Turner, Degas, and Monet were firm favourites. I trained and worked many years as a scientist while I continued to explore many different art forms. When I discovered long exposure photography and how it captures the subtle magic of early dawn light I was hooked. Here was a way for me to capture the beauty of light and the myriad of colours it creates and make them my own. I paint what I see with my camera working instinctively as the light and my mood changes. Over the past few years as I honed my craft I realised that there are very few women landscape photographers and perhaps this means that our vision of the world will offer something new, something exciting. I certainly hope so. Like Georgia O'Keeffe in the 1920s and 30s, my work ranges from abstract and macro images of flowers to huge vistas of landscape and, like Georgia, I like to focus on line, harmony and colour. Thanks for stopping by.... Lynne
