This photograph, taken in 2012, captures Beirut as a city suspended between earth and sky, stretching toward the horizon in a delicate dance with light. The clouds, soft and heavy, carry echoes of countless stories, while the city’s streets reflect the sky, symbolizing the interconnectedness of all ...

Nourhan Eltoukhi is a multidisciplinary Egyptian artist whose practice bridges painting, photography, and embodied expression. Nourhan Eltoukhi believes that we are art. Humans are art, nature is art, and the process of creating is inseparable from the process of living. For her, each brushstroke, photograph, sound, or movement is not only an expression but also a mirror of what it means to exist: layered, fragile, resilient, and alive. She sees art as the space where mind, body, heart, and spirit meet — not in isolation, but in harmony. Healing, like art, happens when all of these dimensions move together and are woven back into daily life. Her philosophy flows into both her artistic and therapeutic work. Through painting and photography, she creates layered abstractions and visual storytelling that give what words cannot capture. In therapy, she draws from multiple schools and traditions, respecting the wisdom in each. Yet she holds firmly that every client is the true expert of their own experience. Her role is to guide, to witness, and to offer tools that help people access their own inner healing. For Nourhan, creativity is both biological and spiritual. Grounded in science, she integrates knowledge of the nervous system, neuroplasticity, and emotion with the living practices of art, sound, and movement. This integration allows her to explore how creativity can regulate the body, restore balance, and open connection — to oneself, to others, and to the natural world. Nourhan’s work has been shown in Egypt and abroad, including Helwa Ya Balady at the Damietta Festival (2025) and Shams Art Space in London (2025). Her vision extends beyond the studio. She imagines a nature-based art center: a sanctuary where people from around the world can gather to create, heal, and connect. A place where art, humanity, and nature flow together — and where life itself is lived as art. Along with her long-term vision is to pursue doctoral research on Multiple Sclerosis, exploring how body-based therapies and expressive practices can support healing and resilience — a path informed by her own journey of living with and transforming autoimmune conditions. Behind her practice lies a rich and diverse training. She holds an MSc in Clinical Psychology & Mental Health (Merit Award, London South Bank University) and a Bachelor of Psychology (Dean’s List, Taylor’s University).
