To create an emulsion lift, each individual Polaroid is shot on location, and then when the pieces are collected, you cut the borders from the image, submerge each one in warm water, until the adhesive behind the emulsion starts to bubble. With the help of a soft bristled brush the artist gently removes the picture area from the paper backing, taking care to remove all left over adhesive.
