This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle photo rag paper which accentuates the vibrant colours, textures and depth of the art work. It is a limited edition of only 10 prints, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. This print comes inclusive of a white border, and has a thin black keyline between the image and the border (this can be seen in the image shown). This balances the image perfectly once framed. The total print size is 80cm x 80cm with the image measuring 60cm x 60cm. I took inspiration for this work from the area I live in. On my dog walks with time to look and think I began to start sketching ideas with my phone for the creation of ICM and double exposure images. I then returned with my camera to develop this work. This image portrays the sights, sounds and feelings around me in Speulderbos in the Netherlands early on a misty morning. This woodland is also know as the location of the 'dancing trees'. Historically, all the straight strong trees have been removed for wood, leaving just the bent ones, these look as though they are dancing; hence the name. Trees play a pivotal role in this image as I find the woodlands are a unique contrast to the otherwise flat and open landscape of the Netherlands. I love their forms when you add a little camera movement into the image. This artwork is intended to make you take a minute to linger and wonder if you are missing an appreciation of your own surroundings because you don't allow yourself the time to look at the obvious.

Netherlands
Having moved from the UK to my new home in a small rural village in the Netherlands, I find pleasure and inspiration in the contrasts and colours I see around me. Things that I believe the locals don’t even notice. I delight in the opportunity to portray what many to consider as a ‘flat and boring’ landscape, into images that intrigue and question that preconceived notion. My creative style of photography is inspired by the environment in which I live. I take inspiration for my work the minute I look out of my window. My early photographic career tended towards portraits and weddings. However, with a move to the Netherlands, my interest in landscapes was triggered. After following a traditional landscape photography path, I felt a need to express my feelings about the locations I was photographing, rather than just capturing a technically perfect or pretty image of a place. I have never been one to follow the crowd. So, through a desire to push boundaries, and experiment outside of the expected, I have found a powerful way to express my creativity through Intentional Camera movement and multiple exposure layering of images. These techniques help to add texture, contrast and colour, resulting in images that then require more than a quick glance for the viewer to fully understand what they are looking at. Some of my images are created in a moment of spontaneity, whilst others are carefully combined to replicate a memory. Many of my images are made just a short walk from my house, and prove that you need not travel to beautiful and exotic locations to create unique images. Just that you be inspired and intrigued by a location.
