Swell Veil Photograph

Swell Veil is a unique cyanotype on Arches watercolor paper created with sunlight. The cyanotype process is an alternative photography method that yields a blue-toned impression when exposed to UV light. I work with this malleable process to interact with the universe’s most subtle phenomena: light. Through meditative interactions with sculptural material, I discover unique and curious shadow forms that invert and manifest as light through the cyanotype process. Each cyanotype is a collaboration with the sun and sky with exposure times ranging from minutes to hours to days. This series, Beyond the Veil, is a yearning to pierce the illusion of reality, to grasp its frayed edges and reveal some ultimate truth.
