Tenaya Lake sits just west of Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. This crystal clear lake sits at 8,100 feet elevation. It is named after the Chief of the Miwok Indians who lived in yosemite Valley when the Gold Rush miners first entered yosemite in 1851. This is a wonderful spot for summer visitors to picnic, fish, kayak, or fish before the winter snows close the road each winter. The deep blue lake reflecting Pywiack Dome makes for a terrific photo subject.
