Tetrapods in the sea, Hokkaido Photograph - Limited Edition of 5

Layers are very important in minimalist photography. Dividing the frame into sections really helps simplifying the scene. That’s why I love shooting images of the beach under the snow: it’s so much fun to use the snow and the dark sand as layers to complement the main subject, in this case the tetrapods in the water. You never get the same composition twice, and the contrast is so huge it makes for wonderful images, at least most of the times. This particular shot was taken in Shosanbetsu, in the North-west part of Hokkaido, just before a really cold sunset. These wave breakers were in a really hidden beach, so like to think no one else got the same shot as I did. The original is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Satin 310 gsm 100% Cotton white satin-finish paper and manually signed.
