This artwork was created in 1999 during a trip to the Alps, inspired by the stark beauty and striking contrasts of the mountain landscape. The vivid yellow sky against the deep blues and greens of the snow-covered peaks captures the dynamic interplay of colors found in nature. I used a silkscreen printing technique combined with collage elements to achieve this unique visual effect, allowing for a rich texture and depth that brings the mountains to life. The choice of silkscreen as a medium was deliberate; it enabled me to experiment with layering colors and shapes, reflecting the complexity and ruggedness of the terrain. Each print carries a unique character, much like the ever-changing views in the mountains themselves. My aim with this piece is to evoke a sense of presence and immersion in the natural world, inviting viewers to feel the crisp mountain air and see the vibrant colors of a landscape untouched by time. It’s about capturing a moment of clarity and connection with nature, a reminder of the simplicity and strength found in these environments.
