The Six Guardians is a seascape from the Sussex coastline where a manmade underwater structure is signalled to passing ships by the use of six markers, which stand like guardians out to sea. I was interested in the tidal patterns that this unseen structure causes, and waited for many hours to capture the perfect combination of incoming tide and stormy sea for a dramatic and intense image, full of movement. The Six Guardians is a professionally printed archival pigment print using Fotospeed High White Smooth 315 gms photographic paper. All limited edition prints are signed, numbered, dated and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Available in two sizes (48 x 34" and 36 x 24") and as a bespoke print to fit your particular space.

Steve Gallagher is a UK-based fine art photographer, originally from Iowa in the American Midwest. He graduated with a Fine Arts degree in Visual Design and Photography from the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and worked as an editorial fashion photographer in Chicago, Miami and New York. He then built a successful career in advertising and design before moving to the UK. In 2019, Steve and his family settled in Worthing in West Sussex, where his love of photography was reignited by the beauty of the Sussex Downs, the local shoreline and the sea. Surrounded by nature and with an artist’s studio in his garden, his photographic focus on seascapes and floral portraits was almost inevitable. The restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic imposed a time and space to distil his art, allowing Steve to focus on refining and redefining his practice over this period to produce the intricate and skilfully-composed photographs that characterise his work. Steve's finely-detailed work reflects the very different ways in which moments in time are captured and immortalised, contrasting the dramatic immediacy of the mutable moods of the seas, with the stillness and delicacy of single blooms as they reveal their intricate and fragile natures. Most recently, Steve has expanded his work into new media, including 3D lenticular prints and works on glass, aluminium and cloth. These new treatments further enhance his reputation as a talented fine art photographer whose work captures the timeless beauty of nature in innovative and unique artworks. Steve's work hangs in private homes and collections in the UK, Europe, the USA and Australia. In 2024, his work will be exhibited in Sussex, London, Seattle, New York and Miami.
