The Water Island, Orkney Photograph - Limited Edition of 25

Light blue skies and rust brown rushes, a soft pastel toned landscape from the Isle of Orkney in the north of Scotland. The image was made at a small loch (lake) beside the The Ring of Brodgar, the most famous and oldest of the standing stones in the UK. For thousands of years, these huge monoliths have stood overlooking this little lochan. Standing on a serene morning at the edge of the water, with the swans taking flight, it seems no wonder to me that ancient people felt this place was so special. A rustic neutral tone images that is soothing and calming yet has a story and a history. This is a single image made in the camera using subtle movements as I take the picture. As I make these abstract landscapes I have an in my mind an idea of how the image will look but each time the results are exciting and new. I was drawn to the fabulous silver colour of the water around this island and I love to bring out this fresh, calming atmosphere in my picture. Printed at 44 x 44 inches including a 2 inches white border with the signature, edition number and title under the image. Available in other sizes and on paper.
