VIEW IN MY ROOM
Lisa Swerling makes sparkling miniature worlds in boxes called "Glass Cathedrals", shown and collected all over the world. In the original shadowbox, the figures are under an inch in height. The butterflies are intended to represent our memories - precious fragments of time - and how we tether them to ourselves and pass them on to others. And how aging is a gradual loosening of our mind, our body and our earthly ties, and that can be beautiful.

Glass Cathedrals are a series of miniature worlds in boxes, each containing a sparkling parallel world reflecting the poignancy, absurdity and beauty of our own. Many artboxes are uniquely customized, commissioned to capture special events, places, people or memories.
